Dear Downtown Business/Property Owner/Customers.
The City of Oshawa is running the Kars on King Event in Downtown Oshawa on Friday, August 23, 2024. Road closures will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. inclusive. The Kars on King event takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
As a result, there will be several road closures and traffic delays in your neighbourhood. There will be no entry or exit of non-event vehicles within the event footprint between 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
If you are a Property Owner and do not live on-site, please share this information with your tenant (s) at your earliest opportunity.
Parking meters will be bagged "No Parking" before 9 a.m. Vehicles should vacate the area before the road closure to avoid ticketing or towing. Vehicles parked on the street will be tagged and towed at the owner's expense. There will be no in-out access once the road closure begins.
During the road closure, pick-up and delivery services, including third-party services, will not have parking access to the establishments within the closed area. Businesses should inform their customers and delivery services that delays are likely. Businesses can advise the services to park in the gravel lot at the northeast corner of Bond St. E. and Simcoe St. N., or other parking areas outside the closure zone (see map).

Regularly scheduled garbage collection at designated properties in the downtown core will not be impacted by this closure - garbage collection will occur on Friday morning before the road closure. Residents and property owners must ensure that garbage is set out at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. on Thursday evening and before 7 a.m. on Friday ahead of collection. Garbage set out at the curb after 7 a.m. on Friday may not be collected and subject to enforcement.
